many the miles.

All those people who warned us that 12 hours of driving was a lot to do in one day were absolutely correct-- but we finally made it to Kansas City safe and sound and sane. In addition to caffeine, snacks, and 2 tanks of gas (one courtesy of a gas card from Joan Linstrom & Ken Jones-- many thanks!), we found the most amazing syndicated radio station to sustain us for a good portion of our day. GenX, thank you for providing us with hot tracks from the 90's and today that we'd almost forgotten about and were super pumped to hear!

Here is our signage for the day. Lots of states, but not too many stories to report (not sure whether this is a good thing or a bad thing).

Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas

We arrived in Kansas (Lawrence, to be exact) at about 7:30 tonight and headed out for some Kansas City BBQ before grabbing some froyo (to honor our roomies who we miss dearly), and our now back at the home of the Slack family (my dad's cousins) who graciously offered us a wonderful place to stay tonight.

Tomorrow it's off to Denver, and since we have a shorter drive, we'll do our best to post more!

Things we noticed today:
-The speed limit signs like Leigh Ann better as a driver, as they tend to decrease about 5-10 mph every time Lindsay takes the wheel
-Fireworks are still popular out here, though the stands are slightly outnumbered by gigantic antique malls and adult superstores
-There are many cities/towns in the US named after foreign countries-- today we passed London, Paris (twice), Dublin, and Brazil, to name a few!

Best Purchase(s) of the Day:
-Lindsay's 44oz. Diet Dr. Pepper, which cost her $1-- though the 16oz. version cost $1.35. Ponder that deal...
-Kansas City BBQ (smoked turkey for Linz, brisket/pulled pork for LA)

Soundtrack of the Day:
-GenX radio (including but not limited to: 69 Boyz- When I Dip You Dip, La Bouche- Another Night Another Dream, The Ramones- I Wanna Be Sedated, and Christina Aguilera- What A Girl Wants)
-Train- Drops of Jupiter (our BFF anthem since our Roosevelt days)
-The first five chapters of The Passage by Justin Cronin (an audio book courtesy of Julia Frank-- which we are loving so far, despite being wildly confused)
