hi, ohio.

So, the trip has begun. Last night, my parents came over and made us all an awesome dinner (crab cakes, corn, asparagus... mmm) and helped load up the little red car-- which we did successfully (with allll my stuff) in just one try! One last trip to froZENyo (a 3121 tradition) capped off my final night in DC perfectly.

It was definitely tough to drive away this morning. Our drive today, luckily-- not so tough (minus the whole already-homesick thing, obvi). Linz and I made great time from DC to Columbus, Ohio (just about 7 hours), where we are staying tonight with my cousin Susan and her family. They made us a great dinner and it was good to see the Stepps and Aunt Diane.

Sydney & Kiersten... such sweeties!
Lindsay (my cross-country driving expert) insists that we photograph signs when entering each state that we go through, so here is what we've collected so far (though we're missing DC and Maryland):

Another notable thing about today (August 29th)-- it's my big sister's birthday! Show her some love by visiting her amazingly inspiring Flickr photo page. Love you so much Jules... hope it was wonderful!

Caught in the act, Hawaii 2010
Tomorrow is one of our longest days (headed all the way to Lawrence, Kansas), so wish us luck!

Signing off sleepily,
L & L

xxo.

Things we noticed today:
-People in PA/WV really must like to set off fireworks, because there is a stand about every 2 miles
-We can survive off of one big breakfast and one big dinner, with our Peeps-supplied road trip snacks and caffeine (Starbucks for me, DC for Linz) sustaining us in between

Best Purchase of the Day :
-$.75 for hot pink cherry-flavored edible body paint from a gas station bathroom vending machine

Soundtrack of the Day: Katy Perry- Circle the Drain; Empire of the Sun album (wonderful suggestion, LJ!)
